Whilst UK pre-decimal coins are my main interest, I do have collections of coins that fall outside this. The collections are basically UK pre-decimal, UK decimal, including Isle of Man, Guernsey, Jersey, etc. and then the rest of the world. Included in the rest of the world collection are, at the time of typing, 118 US coins of various denominations.
Being a little inquisitive having watched a number of youtube videos of US collectors who are specifically looking for US Wheat Cents and because I have never seen one in the flesh, I took the plunge on Sunday and purchased, via an online auction (not eBay for a change) a lot of 50 Wheat Cents. Out of these 50, 22 were unique to dates and mint marks. whilst none are special they do make a nice addition to the collection
The Wheat Penny looks to cover the period from 1909 through to 1958 and was minted in three US mints, Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco.
